OWL named as Innovation Award Finalist

In March 2016, Organic Waste Logistics (OWL) had the privilege of being named a finalist at the 2016 World Food Innovation Awards in the category, Best Environmental Sustainability/CSR Initiative. The award, which was presented during the Hotelympia Conference in London on 5-8 March, was judged by a panel of experts, who considered 240 entries from 25 countries in 25 categories.

Both OWL Co-Founders, William Heller and Mat Stewart attended the ceremony to receive the honour and were extremely pleased to be selected as one of three finalists in this category.

“As OWL had just launched at the Hotelympia show, we were thrilled to be notified that we had been named as finalists for the best environmental sustainability award” said William Heller, OWLs Chief Executive. “This was a surprise and honour for such a new and young company.”

“Since we received this accolade, we have been working across the UK and overseas to spread the word about OWL which provides a state-of-the-art solution for the management of unavoidable food waste.”

“We’re pleased that interest in OWL has increased substantially and that we’re now beginning to install our BioWhale in sites across the UK.”

The World Food Innovation Awards is the international food industry’s leading awards scheme, celebrating innovation and excellence across every product category, as well as seeking out the best in packaging, marketing, technology and sustainability.

Committee chairman, Neil Parish, says that, environmentally, food waste that ends up rotting in landfill is “a disaster", because it produces methane – “a potent climate-changing gas".
